A Different Take on Retro Decor.....

I'm unusually obsessed with the 1960's and therefore spend tons of time 

looking at 60's inspired clothing and home decor.

Most often, I gravitate toward retro inspired spaces that are brightly colored,

like this space by Meg Braff.

A Palm Beach style look, if you will.

So I was very surprised at myself for fawning over this space on Veranda.com.

It's more of an understated, neutral palette, while still retaining that mid-century modern feel.

I adore how they layered textures, while keeping a monochromatic look.

Love the light in this bedroom.

I also love the lucite table as a "bench" at the end of the bed.

This bathroom is the only thing I'm not wild about.

It's a little spa meets asian inspired for my taste.

Wedding Wednesday.... Casual Chic in Napa

A sweet friendy of mine so graciously shared these pictures with me today.

Since we're in the HOTTEST week of the summer, it's nice to look at pictures of a sweet, casual wedding

on a cool fall night in Napa, California.

I just adore how elegant it looks without being stuffy or overblown.

And these lanterns are to-die!

I'm SO into the intimate wedding with one long table.

You can actually talk to each other!

Graphic Flooring.... Gotta Love it!

So, I'm obviously really tardy to the party on this one,

but I was catching up on episodes of Million Dollar Decorator's

on Bravo the other day and was astonished by something.

The scene where Mary McDonald (my fave btw) goes to her client's

house and see's the painted floor in the study....

And the client is all " I hate this!"

Well, in my opinion she couldn't have been more wrong.

'

Because I am super into patterned floors right now.

Whether it's wall to wall carpet, tile, or painted.

I'm INTO IT.

A few other graphic floors a la Ms. McDonald.

I heart this bathroom times a thousand.

And other flooring situations that I'm loving....

I've long been a fan of this grey and white combo by Windsor Smith

 Which it appears she recreated for the House of Windsor showhouse recently.

 I'm also loving rooms that have solid painted floors.... preferably in a saturated glossy color!

And just in case you were interested, I love this graphic wall at a Kelly Wearstler decorated hotel in L.A.

What do you think of graphic floors in lieu of a rug?



Sweet Pink Dreams.....

I'm simply dying to re-do my bedroom (actually my entire home, but whatever).

What's totally throwing me for a loop is that I cannot get these two images out of my noggin.

I'm LOVING peachy pinks and corals for the boudoir right now.

What's weird is that I'm one of those people who adores color in the rest of the house but wants to keep the bedroom calming and neutral.

I just feel like it's easier to relax that way.

But ya'll, I think my gut is telling me that I'm ready for something different now.

I obviously need to incorporate both peachy pink and coraly orange.

With Hotel-Style Bedding and Saturated Silk Taffeta Curatins.

And perhaps an artsy photog of my fave ever wall at the Parker in Palm Springs

(to be later replaced by my own wedding photo, obvi)

A few other boudoirs that are striking my fancy at the moment....

Dying over this bedroom I saw on Pinterest a few weeks ago.

Is that a cowhide and lucite chair?

Yes, yes it is.

The real question is how I'm going to convince my color-blind man friend that

I did not in fact make him live & sleep in pink and orange.

Perhaps I'll just say it's red?

I'll need everyone's help convincing him.



Wedding Wednesday---- The Newest Accessory!

I hate to be selfish on Wedding Wednesday (which, I know is everyone's FAVE day),

but sometimes, I just need to talk about my own (non-existent) wedding.

And what I want.

Partly because I know mom (hi mom!) reads this blog and I need

to start getting her on my wagon early.

And partly because it's just fun to talk about yourself.

And what I want friends, is succulents.

They are the new accessory in wedding flowers.

Particularly if you're having a desert style wedding (Palm Springs!) or something rustic.

They add a certain something, dontchathink?

 And OBVIOUSLY they look great with mercury glass.

I like them as table decor.

And in the bridey bouquet.
